Reformative Periodontal Therapy

Understanding Periodontal Disease

Periodontal disease, or gum disease, is an inflammatory condition that can cause irreversible damage to the gums and bone, potentially leading to tooth loss if left untreated. Our office is proactive in educating patients about gum disease and prevention strategies. We utilize advanced technologies, including soft tissue lasers and genetic and bacterial testing, for effective diagnosis and treatment.

Laser Gum Treatment

Laser Assisted Periodontal Therapy (LAPT) is a cutting-edge treatment for gum disease. It combines traditional deep cleaning techniques with the precision and healing properties of laser technology. The advantages of using a laser include:

  • Extreme precision to remove only diseased tissue
  • Limited postoperative discomfort
  • Optimal environment for rapid healing

The number of visits required for LAPT varies based on the extent of gum disease. After treatment, more frequent visits are recommended to manage the disease and prevent further damage.

Risk Factors for Gum Disease

Common risk factors include:

  • Genetics
  • Stress
  • Tobacco use
  • Poor nutrition
  • Grinding or clenching teeth
  • Other systemic factors

Our office prioritizes helping patients determine their risk factors to prevent damage and tooth loss.

Oral DNA Testing

We have partnered with Access Genetic Labs, the creators of Oral DNA, to offer three tests for the prevention and treatment of periodontal disease and oral cancer:

  • MyPerioID: Identifies genetic susceptibility to gum disease.
  • MyPerioPath: Determines the type and concentration of bacteria associated with gum disease.
  • HPV Screening: Tests for the presence of HPV in the oral cavity, a serious risk factor for oral cancer.
